Expert-Workshop, February 7 2018, Stadtteilzentrum LISA
The workshop invited experts and professionals working in and on topics related to the development of Lobeda. We asked about the image of the Jena district: How is Lobeda perceived from the inside by its inhabitants, and from the outside, by its visitors or people driving by on the motorway? Which keywords come to mind when comparing the inner and outer view? Which spatial potentials and which problem areas are there in the district? The workshop concluded in a set of maps and a list of potential sites for intervention.
Ideas Workshop, April 25 + 26 2018, Kubus and different public spaces
In this workshop, we want to ask the inhabitants of the area - What is it that makes Lobeda? If Lobeda was your friend what would you ask of it? These discussions were held at the public spaces around the main street of Loebda west, out of a mobile unit designed by Umschichten studio. Questions were mapped and then stenciled on the sidewalk to be visible from the neighbouring windows and by passers-by.
Design and build workshop, August 10 – 12 2018, Kubus und Park
72HUA is a design and build festival which brings together rapid construction skills with social questions. As a foretaste of the Festival, we invited all Lobedaers and Jenaers to join in and build musical instruments and street furniture together. A collaboration with the local music school and a youth street dance group produced a public performance a set of free participatory workshops. Another collaboration with the NGO Kitchen on the Run provided the public and participants with great meals. The weekend was dedicated to filling the public space in Lobeda west with dance, construction, music and food.

Eventually, the big event will take place in the spring of 2019: in only three days and three nights, a total of one hundred and twenty people from Germany and around the world will design and build ten installations for the residents of Lobeda.
